The warmest water on the beaches is always there where there are no strong currents. In Korcula town, it is Luka Korculanska and Banje beach.
Vela Przina and Bilin Zal in Lumbarda also have very warm water.
In July, sea water will be warm everywhere around the island.

Alternatively, drive from Split to Ploce and take ferry to Trpanj, drive to Orebic and take ferry to Korcula (Domince)

to go to Mljet from Korcula, take car ferry Korcula (Domince) to Orebic, drive to Prapratno and car ferry is there to take you and your car to Mljet.

Yes, it is fairly easy access by bus or taxi to most of the places on the island although, Korcula town is the easiest place to access.
