I’m planning to stay in Camp Kalac in late August, but I would rather not book it as I won’t be sure when I’m arriving until fairly close to the time. Is there a possibility we won’t be able to find a space, or should it be fine
jacke, it is difficult to say – august is pretty busy month, so campsite may be fully booked by the time you arrive. my advice would be to book the pitch as soon as you know your dates and have a plan b in case you need alternative accommodation.
all ferries to Korcula island are here:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/korcula-island-ferries.htm
my guess is the quickest way would be to drive to Ploce, take ferry to Trpanj, drive to Orebic and take ferry to Domince (Korcula)
if you decide to take bus here are the latest schedules https://www.travel-file.com/plitvickajezera-buses.htm
hi jenny,
yes it is true there are no ferries to mljet from korcula on wednesdays
https://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/catamaran-dubrovnik-mljet-korcula-lastovo.htm
you can take early morning bus from korcula to dubrovnik, get off on the crossroads above prapratno bay and take ferry from prapratno to mljet.
from the crossroads to prapratno ferry port it is 10-15 minutes downhill walk so if you dont have heavy luggage it is easy. prapratno is lovely pebbled bay and beach so you can have a swim while waiting for ferry
check timetables and info on following link:
Ferries to and from Mljet island : https://www.croatiaferries.com/mljet-island-ferries.htm
Bus to Dubrovnik from Korcula : 6.45am
chris, there are numerous public pathways where you can ride moutainbike on the island.
there are no restrictions as long as its is not a private land so yes, you should pack your bike and bring it here 🙂
as july is pretty hot month perhaps you could consider riding in the early mornings or late afternoons and spend the hot part of the day in the shade
thanks, bernard – the info that all ferry services in Croatia are running according to the temporary timetable is available since December – have a look at this blog post:
no any changes since.
martin, timetable for ferry from dubrovnik to korcula for 2012 is not known yet.
if and when it will be known, the page will be updated.
yes, there is a bus every day between Korcula and Dubrovnik.
at http://www.croatiaferries.com you will find listing off all ferries in croatia
not all ferries are run by jadrolinija, there are also other ferry companies that run ferries in croatia.
korcula-hvar-split ferry on this page https://www.croatiaferries.com/hvar-split-ferry.htm is run by another company.
yes, http://www.croatiaferries.com site is up to date.
there is a daily bus connection with Dubrovnik – check here:

UPDATE:
There is now a daily fast ferry from Korcula to Dubrovnik – all info is here:
yes, there is a taxi service from lumbarda to korcula and they can provide you with transfer to korcula port on time to catch early morning catamaran. the price is about 100 hrk
I noticed on your site that you have the 2012 timetable for the Rijeka – Split – Hvar – Korcula – Dubrovnik service and I was just wondering if you knew if this ferry had been confirmed for 2012 yet
I haven’t been able to find it on the Jadrolinja website so was hoping you might be able to help me figure out whether this ferry service is running or not.
Robert, all timetables for 2012 are temporarily confirmed by relevant government bodies in late December 2011 – have a look here :
My guess is Jadrolinija is reluctant to put anything on their site because they do online booking for this particular line, which means they have to commit financially to potential customers..
As Jadrolinija’s ferries are subsidized by the government’s funding, my guess is they will not advertise ferry schedules before they get final confirmation from the relevant body.
Hi Tans,
There is a daily ferry that leaves 6am from Korcula town to Hvar :
https://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/ferry-catamaran-korcula-hvar-split/
I guess you will be better off to stay in Korcula Town.
I have been trying to understand the ferry schedule for travel from Split to Dubrovnik or Dubrovnik to Split and can’t seem to make sense of it.
I need to know what days I can travel from Split to Dubrovnik or from Dubrovnik to Split.
Also, the times of departures and arrival.
I have already looked on the website for Jadrolinija, and it does not make sense to me.
check Croatia Ferries site:
I’d like to know what the fastest, most comfortable way to travel from Dubrovnik to Korcula would be – ferry or bus, and how/where I can book this or what the timetables are like for that date.
would you recommend leaving Korcula the night before and staying closer to the airport?
Defining ‘fastest, most comfortable way’ is dificult as both modes of transport have its advantages and disadvantages.
As you are travelling in August, I would suggest you to take ferry if it fits into your itinerary – otherwise, take bus.
Have a look at this post about How to get from Dubrovnik to Korcula:
https://www.korculainfo.com/how-to-get-from-dubrovnik-to-korcula/
Re your travel back to Dubrovnik Airport – no, I would not recommend you to leave day earlier as you have plenty of time to reach the airport by 3pm – take a morning bus from Korcula to Dubrovnik and you can be at the airport by 10.30 am – bus to dubrovnik link is here : https://www.korculainfo.com/bus/bus-dubrovnik-korcula/ + https://www.korculainfo.com/bus/
note – no advance booking is available at the present however you should be ok if you buy your tickets as soon as you arrive in dubrovnik…

To make your decision, perhaps you can consider your flight schedules:
in May ferry from Split departs at 4pm
https://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/ferry-catamaran-korcula-hvar-split/
while bus from Dubrovnik departs at 3pm:
https://www.korculainfo.com/bus/bus-dubrovnik-korcula/
check also my posts about how to get from Split and Dubrovnik to Korcula :
We are planning to visit Korcula on may 30th 2012.
In this date are there ferries from Drvenik to Korcula
If not, how can we go to Korcula from Split with car
Ferry from Drvenik to Korcula runs during high season only. Last summer it started on 17.06.2011 and run until 11.09.2011 – check here : https://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/drvenik-korcula-ferry.htm
Although at the present I have no definite dates, it is unlikely that ferry will run on 30.05.2012.
My suggestion to you is to drive to Ploce and take ferry from Ploce to Trpanj + fery from Orebic to Korcula. If you prefer, you can drive all the way along Peljesac Peninsula.
Check ferry to korcula map : https://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/ferries-map-korcula.html
All ferries to Korcula are listed on our ferry page:
https://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/
Also, my post about how to get from Split to Korcula by public transport

can also add some insight.
I hope this helps..
🙂
Having spent a few days in a town do you think we should stay in a village or is Korcula town completely different from Dubrovnik
Korcula Town is much smaller place than Dubrovnik.
Most of the houses that offer accommodation has terraaces, gardens or/and patios, mostly with nice views, so I believe your family can have nice stay in town – no need to go out of the town.
Additionally, if you stay in Korcula Town you don’t depend on any transport.
So, I would suggest you to stay in the town on let’s say 5-10 min walking distance from the main square – in the areas such as Sveti Nikola or Cvjetno Naselje:
https://www.korculainfo.com/sveti-nikola/
https://www.korculainfo.com/cvjetno-naselje/
Also, will ferries to Korcula be running on the Friday before Easter
Ferries will not be running for Easter – you woud need to use bus – have a look at this topic:
https://www.korculainfo.com/travel/dubrovnik-korcula/
i hope this helps a bit 🙂

Hi I am going to be in Korcula on Sunday 8th April as a stopoff on a p&o cruise. We are only there for one day but I am desperate to get to Medjugorje even if only for an hour ! Is this possible? Any advice on how to get to Medjugorje from Korcula in a short day? Many thanks
it is possible – by taxi or car rental.
it will take you about 3.5 to 3.45 hrs to drive there.
Hi Kathy,
That house is not any more rented to tourists..
