Archaeological Survey of All Saints Tower

The archaeological survey and excavations are currently in progress on the interior of the Large All Saints Tower in Korcula Old Town.

The purpose of the survey is to find out the original condition of the Large and Small All Saints Towers (see below plan) and their relation to the Town Walls.

All Saints Tower Archaeological Survey

The survey will establish the map of all the former defensive walls, historical layers as well as the exact position and thickness of the inner wall of the tower/s. The stairs northwest of the Tower and near the church of All Saints as also included.

The excavation depth is currently unknown.  It will depend on the findings and the configuration of the terrain. At the beginning of the 19th century, during the construction of Petra Kanavelica Street and Rampada promenade (Zakerjan), the Tower of All Saints was partly demolished and filled up by remaining debris. The final intention is to clear the debris and open up the tower.
