“Susur! Festival od rici!” will be held from 11th to 15th of August 2012th in the old town of Korcula and will present intimate stories of exciting, contemporary writers from the region, the island’s legends, anecdotes, some new flavors, definitely spectacular images.
The festival will be held in alluring ambient of the Old town of Korcula, where writers, travelers, poets, artists and designers from the region will talk about their writing and art works on the topic of travel, departure and return, and all aspects of island life. The festival will gather both acknowledged published authors from the region and chroniclers of the colourful cultural and historical events of the Island of Korcula.
The Festival will feature following authors: Olja Savicevic Ivancevic (HR), Ankica Tomic (HR), Anela Borcic (Hr), Muharram Bazdulj (BiH), playwright Jordan Cvetanovic (FR), Poets Marijo Glavas (HR) and Darko Separovic (HR), traveler and journalist Mark Stricevic (HR), and the authors of Korcula Sanda Hancevic, Dusko Kalogjera, Ivica Duhovic-Žaknic, and others.
Visual part of the program will include regional art project “Laser Summit of cheap graphics.” This unique visual experience promotes young creative people in design, illustration and visual communication and establishes a new concept of communication with the audience. Works of art included in this exhibition are printed on a standard laser printer A4 office paper and will be available for only 7kn.
In addition, the festival brings four workshops, two of which are intended for children: art workshop – which will engage children in illustrating travels of Marco Polo and workshop “Ricolov” which will animate children to actively explore Korcula’s vocabulary and dialect.
Two other workshops, intended for participants of all ages, are Handmade paper workshop which will introduce production of authentic postcards made of recycled paper and local herbs, scented with essential oils from the island. The fourth, gastronomic workshop will reveal recipes of famous traditional local delicacies.
Festival is organized by a group of enthusiasts from the region (Belgrade, Split, Zagreb), in love with the Island of Korcula, in association with cultural association from Zagreb. All programs are free of charge and will take place outdoors in the streets and squares of the Old town.
