There are some very exciting news coming from Korcula – the new international Korkyra Baroque Festival will be held in Korcula Town from 07th to 16th of September this year.
The festival, held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipovic, will present a selection of the world’s leading Baroque music ensembles and soloists.
This new festival will be an annual event that is planned to be hold in Korcula every September.
As a fan of Baroque music as well as Korcula’s architecture, I am glad to hear this new festival will be held in some of the most beautiful venues around town -Sveti Marko Cathedral, already established as a music venue and my neighboring Sveti Nikola Church which will become additional music venue in Korcula town.
Although this year’s program is missing one of my favorite pieces of Baroque music – Marcello’s Oboe Concerto in D Minor š which for years holds on the top of my Baroque playlist, I am still very excited about the whole thing and really looking forward to it.
