Korcula with missing palm trees

I only recently discovered this vintage photo of Korcula, taken sometimes during early 1900’s, which instead of well known palm trees along Sveti Nikola promeade, shows there some other kind of trees.

To me these trees looks something like Bagrem aka Black Locust (lat. Robinia pseudoacacia) but I am not really shure..

At which stage locals decided to replace them with palm trees is also mistery to me :/
