Korčula is getting ready for Marco Polo Challenge 2013
Apart from triathlon races suitable for amateur triathlon enthusiasts Korčula will at the same time be a host to Croatian Team Championship and Open championship of City of Korčula in Olympic triathlon discipline – 1500 m swimming – 40 km bicycle – 10 km running.
Those seeking a personal challenge in 2013 should get their running shoes, wetsuits and bikes at the ready in preperation for what is arguably the world’s most stunning triathlon course, as countdown to the Marco Polo Challenge 2013 begins.
Taking place on the 27th April in Korcula, considered Croatia’s island of culture, the Triathlon now in its third year, is named after the intrepid merchant traveller who spent his childhood years on the stunning Adriatic island.
The event incorporates:
– Olympic length triathlon ( 1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run)
– Sprint length triathlon (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run)
– Relay races in both distances
– 10 km running race
The event invites participants both locally and worldwide to enjoy the beauty, culture and energy of Korcula.
Contestants will race through stunning transitions on routes including the medieval streetscapes of the historic old town, cool pine forests and dramatic coastal backdrops of the Dalmation Coast. The main event encompasses a sprint triathlon as well as a sprint-relay triathlon.
Additional parties and activities are also being organised in the surrounding days making it the perfect challenge to combine with some great fun and relaxation both for participants and supporters alike.
Cash prizes are up for grabs along with the opportunity of raising money for charities.
