This impressive painting was made in 1486 by Konrad von Grünemberg, the German knight and architect who, on his way to the Holy Land, sailed along Dalmatian Coast visiting several places including Korcula and Dubrovnik. In his book “Pilgerreise von Konstanz nach Jeruzalem / Pilgrimage from Konstanz to Jeruzalem he described the whole journey. The pilgrimage diary of von Grünenberg is a very significant manuscript both in terms of early travel literature and historical urban geography.
