Governor’s Palace

Governor’s Palace (Gradska vijecnica aka Korcula Town Hall) is nowadays Korcula’s municipal building that was once the office as well as part of the palace of the town’s Governor (located further down the steps, near Governor’s Tower).

The palace was build in 1520 by governor Marchiol Nadal – there is an inscription on its wall saying : ” MDXXV PAVLO QVIRINO PRAERORE”

The ground floor of the building was the Governor’s Office while the first and second floors were erected much later, in 1866.

During the 2 World War, the building was damaged by bombing, but later restored in 1950s.

The building, being among the most beautiful in the town is a well known Korcula’s landmark, located at the Square Trg Antuna i Stjepana Radica
