In most of the larger places on the island – particularly in Korcula, Lumbarda and Vela Luka you will find a variety of recreational boating opportunities including motorboat rental, speed boat rental a kayak or rowing boat to rent.

To avoid disappointment it is recommended, especially in a high season, which is here June to September that you book your boat in advance. You don’t require any previous boating experience if you hire just a small dinghy boat with a set of oars like this one below. You can still have a lot of fun even with the smallest dinghy.

Do I need a licence to drive a boat

This is an important point: To be able to rent your own self-driving boat (to get around without a skipper) you would need to have a boat licence and previous experience with driving boats.

Do I Need a Skipper

In Korcula, you can rent either skippered or non-skippered boats. If you don’t have a boat licence your other option is to rent a kayak or rent a boat with a skipper which is also available. Alternatively, to reach your desired Archipelago destination you can also take a taxi boat.
