BEACHES in DUBROVNIK

Dubrovnik BeachIn Dubrovnik, as anywhere else on Croatian Adriatic, one can swim and sunbath almost everywhere along the coast. But, lets say, if you really want to go for beach in Dubrovnik, the most popular and centrally located is Dubrovnik's Banje Beach.

Also, if you happened to be in Dubrovnik just on the day trip, great place to have a quick bath is at Porporela, the main Old town's pier. Bellow are some descriptions and main points about Dubrovnik Beaches:

Banje beach is Dubrovnik's well known pebble beach:

With a beautiful views over Dubrovnik Old Town. It is located in front of the eastern entrance (Ploce Gate) to Dubrovnik Old Town bellow luxurious Dubrovnik hotels Excelsior and Argentina.. The beach has it's reception, restaurant and sleek and minimalist cafe bar on the water front with often snobbish clientelle. Here you can rent your deck chair and parasol, jet ski, speed boat, and god knows what else - it keeps changing from summer to summer.

Kopakabana (Copacabana) Beach :

- near Babin Kuk at Solitudo in Lapad suburb - this is not so centrally located, but very popular beach especially among the locals who can't be bothered mixing with celebrities, wealthy and famous on Banje Beach. Kopakabana is a long stretch of pebble beach located at area called Solitudo on Lapad peninsula. The easiest way to reach this beach is to take bus no 6 to Lapad, get off at Orsan Sailing Club and walk along the sea ( a very pleasant walk !) for about 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can reach this beach by taking the same bus (no 6) to it's last stop at Babin Kuk area and walk to the beach from there.... Copacabana has it's restaurant and cafe bar, fruit and ice cream shops, sport equipment and canoe rentals etc... The beach has the changing cabins and showers too.

Uvala Lapad Beach:

beach located in the bay of Lapad. To reach this beach take bus no 2 to Uvala Lapad and get off at the bus stop at Hotel Park, or take no 6 to Bulevar and then walk ( 10 min) to reach the sea shore. Uvala Lapad beach is located in the vicinity of several Lapad Hotels as well as many restaurants, cafe bars, tennis courts, children playgrounds. On the beach itself there is a restaurant and couple of café bars. The beach is equipped with showers and changing cabins, sun umbrellas and deck chairs. Due to it's pine wood surroundings, this sandy beach can be enjoyed during hot summer days too ...

Lokrum Beach:

- swimming and sunbathing on Lokrum Island - just off Dubrovnik Old City : this is a very popular swimming spot for Dubrovnik visitors. it is also very conveniently located - take a small taxi boat from Dubrovnik Old Town's harbour which will take you to Lokrum.. It is a pleasant ten minutes sail to Lokrum which is favourite excursion place for locals and visitors too. From the Old city harbour regular boats run during Spring and Autum every hour and during the summer time every half and hour to the island.

Sveti JAKOV beach:

is located at the eastern part of Dubrovnik Town in the small bay. This beach is also popular gathering spot in the summer months among locals. It has it's own restaurant and cafe bar as well as parasol rentals. Sveti Jakov beach is located one mile away of the Old Town. One can reach it by foot or by no. 5 bus and once on the last stop, Sveti Jakov beach is few hundered meters away. Once you reach the church Sv. Jakov, around the corner is staircase to descend to the Beach.

A host of attractive beach resorts are within easy reach of Dubrovnik. From the Gruz main ferry terminal, there are regular crossings to the largely unspoilt Elaphite archipelago, whose three main islands of Kolocep (Kalamota), Lopud and Sipan all offer tranquility and nice pebble beaches.
