Update: Introduction of Flights from Dubrovnik to Korcula

In last few days new information has emerged about seaplane connections between Dubrovnik and Korcula and further with Vela Luka and Ubli on Lastovo Island.

Just over year ago, in April last year, there were some reports that flights will be introduced during last summer. However, the flights are now expected to commence in August or September this year.

Currently, local port authorities, in cooperation with regional conservation department are about to make decision for locations of a floating structures serving as a docks (pontoons) for each port.

The currently planned location for Dubrovnik floating dock is on Lapad side of Gruž bay, in near vicinity of Villa Elisa and Sorkočević palace (check photo here).

The dimensions of each pontoon are expected to be about 20m x 30m (see photo above)

The cost for return flight from Dubrovnik to Korcula , which will last for 12 minutes and will carry up to 20 passengers, is now expected to be between 50 and 70 Euro.

This is just a first part of the large seaplane connection project which will eventually include the network of 18 seaplane pontoons in several Adriatic towns and their neighbouring islands – Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Cavtat, Rovinj, Šibenik, Omiš, Mali Lošinj, Rab, Hvar, Brioni, Cres, Krk, Vis, Komiža, Polače/Pomena on Mljet, Novalja on Pag, Supetar and Bol on Brač.
