I often receive emails asking about ferries to and from Korcula as well as various questions how to go from Korcula ferry terminals and bus station to various parts of the town and further around the island. That is way I decided to draw some maps which will visually answer some questions and give additional info that we, locals, take for granted.

Some good and reassuring news are comming from Croatian media regards future of Peljesac Bridge, the important infrastructure object that was supposed to be built to connect Croatian Mainland and Peljesac Peninsula.
It has been reported that Božidar Kalmeta, the Croatian Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Minister said in Zadar last week that scrapping the construction of the Peljesac Bridge was out of the question.
“Most of the works that is currently under way is not visible, which perhaps confuses some people”, he said in response to questions from the press.
He also said the bridge would most probably be built by the end of the current government’s term, and added that there were no directives from the European Union to abandon construction.
“There are no doubts about the Pelješac Bridge. The work on the access roads has begun and abutments have been ordered… Everything possible at this stage of the project is being done”, said the minister.

Due to the closure of current premisses of Marko Polo Tours,  the travel agent that is selling catamaran ferry tickets for ferry catamaran Split- Hvar - Korcula and ferry catamaran  Dubrovnik - Elafiti - Mljet- Korcula - Lastovo, ferry tickets for these services are now available for purchase from a different location.

My latest info is that from now on, the ferry tickets will be sold at the small kiosk on the Korcula’s West Pier (see above map with arrow pointing to the new ticket place) just 30 minutes before each ferry / catamaran departures. Any future update will be posted here.

A 19-year old Korculan swimmer Mario Todorovic, a memeber of Croatian relay team (Gordan Kozulj, Vanja Rogulj, Duje Draganja) took the silver medal, finishing in second place in the men’s 100m medley relay at the European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven yesterday.

The procession will start at 6pm from Cathedral Sveti Marko, located at Pjaceta - the Old Town’s main square and will proceed across the square, down the steps of main town’s gate Kopnena Vrata and around Old Towns’s medieval walls.

A rare old drawing of Korcula from 1892 (I guess this is actually etching) that was yesterday emailed to me is now displayed in our Old Photos of Korcula Gallery.It depicts Korcula Old Town viewed from Borak area with Sveti Ilija Mountain in the background. (Click on above image to enlarge)

The drawing was scanned from the antique book of Austro-Hungarian Empire, recently bought in antiquarian bookshop in Budapest, published in Vienna in 1892:

Due to regular maintanance of Liburnija ferry boat, Jadrolinija’s ferry Ivan Zajc is currently serving coastal ferry route from Rijeka to Dubrovnik, via Split, Hvar, Korcula and Mljet.

Ferry Ivan Zajc will serve this route until April, when  Marko Polo ferry starts with sailing for the summer season.

They started with online booking for ferries that connect Korcula with Rijeka, Split, Hvar, Mljet and Dubrovnik.

The booking engine is now live so you can book your ferry to Korcula and beyond online at its website.

There are also other ferry companies that run ferries from Italy to Croatia, however, only Jadrolinija runs the coastal ferry route that sails from Rijeka via Split, Hvar, Korcula, Mljet to Dubrovnik.
