A well known Lumbarda’s  artist Stipe Nobilo will have an exhibition in Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Vela Luka.  The exhibition titled “Otok” (meaning ‘An Island’), will show his recent paintings of Lumbarda’s as well as Korcula Archipelago landscapes. The curators of exhibition are Rada Dragojevic Cosovic and Valerija Jurjevic. The opening night is on 27.01.2012 (a traditional Museums Night in Croatia).

The construction work is currently going on the new pedestrian pathway in Lumbarda.  The new pathway will connect Lumbarajsko Racisce bay and Koludert.

This new pathway will enable pedestrians to reach Koludert (the centre of  Lumbarda) from Lumbarajsko Racisce bay without any interruption from cars or any other vehicles (check bellow map):

Along the path, across the islet of Vrnik in Skoji Archipelago, there will be additional swimming and sun bathing areas arranged too.

For evening walkers, public lighting will also be installed, so this new sea shore stretch is expected to be a popular strolling route after dark.

This new pathway is expected to be completed and fully functional by Summer 2012.

The project is financed by Lumbarda municipality.

Darko Rom is photographer from Split, who regularly uploads photos of Korcula and its surroundings to our Korcula Facebook community page.

Although all of his photos are of great quality, the photo I particularly like is above one, taken from the aeroplane by Darko on sunny day, flying above Raznjic – the very eastern part of Korcula Island.

The title of the photo is “Tamo di anđeli odmaraju krila” which can be translated as “Where the angels rest their wings” (due to that little cloud in the background, I guess).

The photo also shows Lumbarda and its Vela Przina and Bilin Zal beaches as well as Grk vineyards.
