How to get from Split to Korcula is a question that is sometimes asked by people who fly to Split Airport and would like to proceed to Korcula Island.
Although Split seems further to Korcula then Dubrovnik, due to introduction of cheap flights to Split couple years ago especially Easy Jet’s flights to Split , people often fly there, instead to Dubrovnik Airport which is actually Korcula Town’s nearest airports.

There are several options to reach Korcula from Split:

The first option is to take a bus from Split airport to port of Split, and then take any of the ferries from Split to Korcula or Vela Luka. This option is probably the easiest one, however, due to flights arrivals this option is sometimes not suitable.

The alternative is to take a bus from Split airpot to Split bus station and then take any bus towards Dubrovnik. Change bus at Doli, near Ston , on Peljesac Peninsula, catch bus that runs from Dubrovnik to Korcula or Orebic . Bear in mind the buses from Split and Dubrovnik are quite frequent, while bus from Dubrovnik to Korcula or Orebic goes only twice a day.

The third option is to take direct bus from Split to Korcula, the one that goes daily from Zagreb to Korcula proceeding to Vela Luka and on its way stops in Split. This option is bit awkward as journey lasts all night, departing around 00.30 hrs arriving in Korcula following morning at 6.35 hrs.

The buses and ferries are in operation every day so they are pretty reliable means of transport, they are comfortable and air-conditioned, and there are some nice views of the islands and bays as you travel along the coast of Adriatic Sea.

Although Zadar is place which is not in near vicinity of Korcula, due to introduction of cheap flights to Zadar couple years ago especially RyanAir’s flights to Zadar , people sometimes fly there, instead to Split or Dubrovnik Airport which are actually Korcula’s nearest airports.

There are several options to reach Korcula from Zadar:

The alternative is to take a bus along the coast from Zadar towards Split or Dubrovnik, and then at Doli, near Ston , on Peljesac Peninsula, catch bus that runs from Dubrovnik to Korcula or Orebic .
And finally, it is important to mention it is shame Jadrolinija’s coastal ferry that sails from Rijeka via Split and Hvar to Korcula and further to Mljet and Dubrovnik, in last few years is NOT stopping in Zadar as it used to and there are no immediate plans to reintroduce Zadar on that ferry route.

How to get from Dubrovnik to Korcula is a question very often asked in emails and the travel forum. The reason for this is because Dubrovnik is a popular place to visit and Dubrovnik Airport is the nearest to the Island, so people usually fly to Dubrovnik, spend few days there then go to visit Korcula.

There are several options to reach Korcula from Dubrovnik:

The first option is to take a ferry from Dubrovnik to Korcula. The trouble is the ferries to Korcula from Dubrovnik are not very frequent; actually, as it seems from this year, these ferries will operate only from June to September.

The alternative is to take a bus along the coast from Dubrovnik to Korcula. Buses from Dubrovnik to Korcula are in operation every day so they are a much more reliable mean of transport.

Both options are great ways of travelling especially as the weather is usually very nice. There are some excellent views of the islands, bays and vineyards as you travel along the coast and along Peljesac Peninsula.

All necessary info, timetables and maps about both ways to get to Korcula from Dubrovnik are on Travel info Korcula page

And finally, you also have option to drive or be driven from Dubrovnik to Korcula. This option includes possible car rental, taxi or driving with your own car. In case you choose this way of travel, bear in mind that parking around Korcula can be difficult in summer periods, as well as that Korcula Old town is traffic free zone. To add to the trouble there is nowhere to leave the car in Orebic either as parking there is pretty chaotic too. Bearing all of this in mind, my suggestion to you is to use public transport whenever possible.

Following the announcement that EasyJet is to launch flights to Split and Dubrovnik from London Stanstead Airport, I did some research about the new flights and their suitability for further travel to Korcula:

Flying to Dubrovnik:
If you would like to reach Korcula on the same day and avoid staying overnight in Dubrovnik, you would need to take Easy Jet flight from London Stansted to Dubrovnik.
The flights departure from Stansted is at 07.30, arriving in Dubrovnik at 11.30. That gives you enough time to reach Dubrovnik Bus Station by 15.00 to take a scenic bus journey from Dubrovnik to Korcula.
On your way back, leave Korcula by bus in the morning at 6.45 am. You will be in Dubrovnik at 9.15 and still have enough time to reach Dubrovnik Airport, as the flight from Dubrovnik to Stanstead leaves at 11.50 am.
Have a look on bellow timetable sample:

Flying to Split:
If you would like to fly from London to Split Airport and would like to reach Korcula on the same day, the best option is to fly to Split from London Gatwick. Flight departs at 06.10, arrives in Split at 09.40. To fly back from Split to London, book Split to London Stanstead flight (departure 21.20, arrival Stanstead 23.00). It this case, you will have enough time to do some sighteeing in Split and catch the fast ferry catamaran from Split via Hvar to Korcula (departure 17.00, arrival 19.20). On your way back, to use the same ferry service to reach Split from Korcula.

Have a look at the timetable bellow:
