Korcula's Land Gate (Kopena Vrata) is near the main ferry port. The Land Gate is the main entrance to the old city center. This 15th Century Veliki Revelin Tower, as it is also known, is an arch that sits at the top of a long flight of stairs leading up from the waterfront. There was once a drawbridge here but it was replaced by the stairs, as a matter of practicality, after the threat of invasion subsided. Above the arch on the gate is a plaque with the Lion of St Mark, the symbol of Venice. There are still some sections of the town wall which lie to the west of the Land Gate.
